Smart SMILE

Laser vision correction with a 2mm micro-incision and rapid recovery

What is SMILE surgery?

SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a next-generation vision correction procedure. Unlike traditional LASIK, SMILE does not require creating a corneal flap. Instead, it corrects vision through a micro-incision of approximately 2mm, making it one of the most advanced laser vision correction methods available today.

A femtosecond laser creates a thin disc of corneal tissue called a lenticule inside the cornea, which is then removed through the small incision to reshape the cornea and correct vision.

Because surface damage to the cornea is minimized, patients experience less pain, faster recovery, and significantly reduced risk of dry eye syndrome. Raum Smile Eye Clinic delivers optimal SMILE outcomes backed by extensive surgical experience.

4 Key Benefits of SMILE

Micro-Incision

Compared to the 20mm incision in conventional LASIK, SMILE requires only a 2mm micro-incision, minimizing corneal damage.

Rapid Recovery

Most patients can resume daily activities the day after surgery, with vision typically stabilizing within 1-2 days.

Minimal Discomfort

With minimal corneal surface disruption, patients experience virtually no pain during or after the procedure.

Reduced Dry Eye

Less corneal nerve damage means significantly lower incidence of post-operative dry eye compared to conventional LASIK.

The Procedure

1

STEP 1. Comprehensive Examination

Over 50 precision diagnostic tests assess your eye condition and determine surgical suitability.

2

STEP 2. Femtosecond Laser Application

The femtosecond laser precisely creates a lenticule (the corneal tissue to be corrected) within the cornea.

3

STEP 3. Lenticule Extraction

The lenticule is safely removed through a micro-incision of approximately 2mm.

4

STEP 4. Procedure Complete

The incision heals naturally. The entire procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes for both eyes.

Astigmatism of -5.0D or less
Sufficient corneal thickness (determined after examination)
